The process of crossing different strains to produce a new, better strain. In practical terms this means female flowers are pollinated with male pollen. As a result, the female plant produces seeds that display traits of the mother and father plants used. The offspring is then subjugated to a strong selection process with the intention of breeding a new strain that expresses the best features of both parents.
